Shani Waninger, Ph.D.

Director of Virology


Dr. Waninger has 13 years of virology experience including 10 years in antiviral drug discovery and development. She obtained her Ph.D. from the Johns Hopkins University and pursued postdoctoral studies at University of California, Los Angeles studying molecular mechanisms of retroviral pathogenesis.  Dr. Waninger held positions at Immusol (currently Itherx) and Adventrx Pharmaceuticals before joining Retrovirox. She held the position of Associate Director, R&D at Adventrx and successfully brought several candidate antiviral therapeutics from discovery stage through IND and into clinical studies.
