Vicente Planelles, Ph.D.

Dr. Planelles is Professor of the Department of Pathology at the University of Utah. Previously, Dr. Planelles held a faculty position at the University of Rochester. He is a renowned expert in the study of HIV pathogenesis and other primate lentiviruses. He has authored more than a hundred peer-reviewed publications in this topic. His investigations have unraveled the molecular mechanisms governing the activity of the HIV-1 Vpr protein. Dr. Planelles was one of the first HIV researchers who engineered  assays to study in vitro the mechanisms of HIV reactivation from latency.
